Pets are our passion. Bettering the lives of pets is what we do. We are pet advocates. We are animal lovers. We are pet owners too. And we will treat and love your pets like one of our own.

Welcome to The Bloomin Vet family.

Dr Glenn Geissler BVSc - Veterinarian

Glenn is the Company Director and principal Veterinarian at The Bloomin’ Vet. He has 24 years of experience in both small and large animal practice. Coming from a cattle farming family in Central Queensland Glenn naturally found himself working in mixed practice. However, he has always enjoyed the challenges and variety presented by small animal medicine and surgery and he has spent time working in a couple of exclusively small animal clinics over the years as well as a small animal emergency hospital. Glenn has also acquired considerable experience as an equine vet having worked for some major equine stud practices in both Qld and NSW. Glenn has worked at a variety of locations around Australia including the Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Katherine and Darwin, Port Hedland, Dubbo, the Gold Coast and Beaudesert.

One of the most enjoyable things Glenn finds about being a veterinarian is seeing the difference in the quality of life experienced by some pets when chronic conditions are alleviated through a combination of medication, treatment and/or surgery. He also really enjoys seeing children take an active interest in the care of their pets when they bring their pets in with mum and dad.

Glenn enjoys  mountain biking and fishing (although never seems to find the time to indulge much in these passions!), training and coaching Crossfit at CrossFit Flourish in Jimboomba, as well as has a keen interest in his Paint and Quarter Horses that he breeds in conjunction with his wife Belinda.

As well as horses Glenn also has two pet Dalmatian dogs Eeppoonnee (Ep) and Stoick and a scruffy Jack Russell Terrier Hiccup and 2 inside cats – a Russian Blue Uri and a Burmese Kachin.  The menagerie is completed by several cows, a dozen sheep, and Light Sussex and Spotted Hamberg Chickens.

Dr Katie Stevens BVSc Hons - Veterinarian

Katie pursued a career in veterinary medicine due to her love of animals and also for the mental challenge posed by the profession. Keeping animals healthy and getting them mended when things haven’t quite gone to plan are areas she finds particularly rewarding. Katie holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree with First Class Honours as well as additional farm animal and equine specific accreditations.

When Katie isn’t in the clinic making animals better she enjoys horse riding and a large proportion of her time is spent alongside her husband (who also happens to be a vet) and beautiful daughters (who also happens to be a vet) and tending to and caring for their own menagerie of animals.

Five horses are fortunate to reside with Katie including Rogue, Tuppence, Bae, Zambucca and Queenie. They share their abode with Paris the Jersey cow whom Katie nursed for 5 days with paralysis tick, as well as four sheep (Lamb Lamb, Lambey, Ramy and Baa) and 3 Lamas! Bernie the lorikeet is also permanent part of the Stevens family after he was rescued when his beak was burnt off. Ducks, geese and chickens round out the household and Katie is a keen breeder of Plymouth Rock chickens. Ruling the roost (and chief boot guarder) is faithful cattle dog Tick.

Katie and her husband have a keen interest in self-sufficiency, although freely admit they have a way to go yet.

Ebony Mayer - Veterinary Nurse

Ebony started at The Bloomin' Vet as a trainee vet nurse back in 2009 after completing her work placement. Since then, she had taken a short break from the clinic to spend some time living abroad, completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and has now found herself back to where it all started.

At home, there is a Golden named Max who only retrieves stuffed animals, a Terrier X named Monkey who goes bananas at dinner time, a DSH named Kitten who at 10 years old is a kitten no longer, and a Guinea Pig named Mavis who enjoys sharing his salad greens with the Rainbow Lorikeet.

In her spare time, Ebony can often be found roaming through op-shops to find the most outdated outfit imaginable, in the kitchen perfecting her hummus recipe, or binge-watching the Lord of The Rings trilogy for the 67th time (and counting).

Ebony is still trying to figure out what she wants to do when she grows up, but is quite happily smothering patients with affection and spoiling them with 'lollies' (liver treats) until she does.

Jodi - Veterinary Technician

Jodi has always has had a strong passion for animals and has always wanted to work within the veterinary industry and eventually own and manage her own Practice. She really enjoys meeting all of our clients and building long term friendships with their furry friends!  Jodi holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology and really enjoys the emergency and critical care side of being a Technician. She has 3 SharPei’s Rocky, Holly and Little Miss whom all love swimming in the dam and running around her 4 acres.

In her spare time, Jodi enjoys helping her partner with his Creations and making sure the next season's plants and veggies are planted.

Kirsten Connell - Veterinary Technician

Kirsten has always wanted to work within the veterinary industry because of her love for animals. She enjoys caring for your fur-children and seeing them return to good health. Kirsten holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology and enjoys the surgical side of nursing.

She loves that working in the veterinary industry means that every day is different and you get to see so many different animals and veterinary cases. Kirsten has 3 cats at home Percy who loves following her around the house, Gizmo who loves a smooch and Miley who is the Queen of the house. In her spare time, Kirsten enjoys going to the beach, archery and traveling overseas to explore new places.
